Office building Amsterdam
Smart window cleaning robot for existing office building
An office building on Van Heuven Goedhartlaan in Amstelveen has received a modern upgrade with Kite Robotics’ window cleaning robot. This advanced robot takes over the entire facade maintenance process — improving safety while contributing to sustainable and future-proof property management.

Facade and window cleaning robot enhances building performance
The 40m height facade was in urgent need of replacement after more than thirty years of intensive use. Visible defects such as leaks meant that the old glass fiber facade no longer met current technical standards. Alongside the facade replacement, a window cleaning robot was integrated — capable of automatically cleaning both the slanted atrium facade and the vertical surfaces. This ensures thorough and efficient cleaning without the need for manual work at great heights.
Safer and more efficient facade maintenance through smart technology
The introduction of the Kite window cleaning robot marks a major step forward in safety and maintenance. Traditional façade cleaning methods — where workers operate from bmu’s, building maintenance units, scaffolding or aerial platforms — are now a thing of the past. This significantly reduces the risk of accidents while also lowering long-term maintenance requirements. By integrating smart technology, this project perfectly aligns with the building owner’s ambition to future-proof the property and reduce operational costs.
Collaboration with partners strengthens innovative project approach
The project was carried out in close collaboration with Sweco (construction project management), Constructif (main contractor), and Braat 1844 (glass construction). The integration of Kite Robotics’ facade cleaning robot serves as an inspiring example of how innovative technologies are shaping the future of building management.
