Police Headquarters The Hague
The new headquarters of the The Hague Police will be equipped with an innovative façade cleaning robot from Kite Robotics. The more than 48,000 m² complex, designed by Cepezed architects, installation design by engineering firm Nelissen and built by BAM Bouw en Techniek, will receive a future-proof solution for smart, safe and sustainable facade maintenance.
Smart technology for sustainable police station
On the edge of The Hague’s Binckhorst redevelopment area, the new police office is rising, with space for more than 2,200 workstations. Construction started in summer 2023 and is expected to be completed in early 2026.
Sustainability is an important pillar in the design. The building will be realised according to the requirements of BREEAM-Excellent (four stars) – an internationally recognised hallmark for sustainable buildings.

Robot cleans facades efficiently and safely
The Kite Robotics system was chosen to maintain the facades. This advanced cleaning robot is designed for maximum efficiency and minimum visual and operational impact, with maximum safety, thanks to its ingenious cable system. This leaves plenty of space for other sustainable applications, such as solar panels.
The benefits summarised:
- More privacy: the robot does not look inside during cleaning.
- Flexible maintenance: cleaning can take place more often, without additional strain.
- Future-proof: maintenance fits seamlessly into the vision of sustainable operations.
